This Privacy Policy explains what information Chartzard collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We are committed to full transparency about our practices including how we may share or sell user data as part of our business model.
1. Information We Collect
A. Account Information
When you create an account we collect:
- Email address
- Name or display name
- Password — stored in encrypted form only, we never have access to your actual password
B. Onboarding Profile Data
During onboarding we collect the following information to personalize your learning experience. This information is required to complete onboarding and access the App:
- Age range
- Employment status
- Annual income range
- Net worth range
- Investable assets range
- Existing investment accounts and brokerage platforms
- Debt profile
- Financial goals and time horizon
- Investing knowledge level
- How you heard about Chartzard
C. Learning Activity Data
As you use the App we collect:
- Lessons completed and in-progress
- Quiz and flashcard scores
- Streak and achievement data
- Market simulator activity
- Time spent in the App
D. AI Tutor Conversations
When you use the AI tutor your messages and a small context summary are transmitted to Groq to generate responses. Groq runs open-weight models (currently Qwen 3 and Llama 3) — the specific model may change as we tune the experience. This is required for the AI tutor to function. Please review Groq's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle this data.
AI tutor conversation history is stored locally on your device only — Chartzard does not retain a copy of your chat history on its servers. The history is removed when you delete your account or uninstall the app.
E. Technical and Device Data
We automatically collect:
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- IP address
- Approximate location — country and state level only
- Crash reports and error logs
- Usage analytics — screens visited, features used, session duration
F. Partner Sharing Preference
During onboarding you will be asked whether you consent to having your individual profile data shared with financial partners. Your response — yes or no — is recorded and stored alongside your profile. You may change this preference at any time in Settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Personalize your learning track and lesson recommendations
- Power the AI tutor with relevant context about your knowledge level
- Track your learning progress and deliver achievements and streak features
- Send lesson reminders and in-app notifications
- Improve the App through usage analysis and product development
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
- Share or sell data with financial partners in accordance with Section 4
3. Account Deletion and Data Removal
You may delete your account at any time through Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
What happens immediately upon deletion:
- Your authentication record is permanently and immediately deleted
- All progress data including lesson history, quiz scores, streaks, and achievements is immediately deleted
- AI tutor conversation history (stored locally on your device) is removed along with the rest of your local data
- Your onboarding profile data is immediately deleted
What may be retained after deletion:
- Anonymized, aggregated data that does not identify you individually may be retained for product analytics and research purposes
- Technical logs may be retained for up to 90 days for security and fraud prevention purposes
4. Financial Profile Data and Partner Sharing
Chartzard collects financial profile information from all users during onboarding. This data serves two purposes — personalizing your in-app experience and supporting our business model as a free app.
4A. Aggregated Anonymous Data — All Users
Regardless of your opt-in choice, Chartzard may aggregate and anonymize user financial profile data to create statistical datasets that may be sold or licensed to financial institutions, brokerage firms, and fintech companies. These datasets contain no individually identifying information — no names, email addresses, or any data that could be used to identify you as a specific individual.
4B. Individual Data Sharing — Opt-In Users Only
During onboarding you will be given the option to opt in to partner sharing. If you opt in you explicitly consent to Chartzard sharing your individual profile information — including your financial profile data, contact information, and investment preferences — with third-party financial partners including brokerage firms, investment platforms, and wealth management companies for the purpose of marketing their products and services directly to you.
This means a brokerage or financial company may receive your information and contact you directly with offers, promotions, or account opening opportunities.
Your opt-in consent covers:
- Your name and email address
- Your financial profile data collected during onboarding
- Your risk tolerance and investment goals
- Your current brokerage usage
4C. Changing Your Preference
You may change your opt-in or opt-out preference at any time by navigating to Profile → Settings → Data Preferences. Opting out going forward will stop your individual data from being included in future partner sharing. It will not affect data already shared with partners prior to your opt-out.
4D. Our Commitments
- Individual data is only ever shared with partners if you have explicitly opted in
- We will never share individual data with partners without your consent
- Aggregated anonymous data may be shared regardless of opt-in status but will never identify you individually
- All third-party partners are contractually required to handle your data in compliance with applicable privacy laws
- If our data practices change materially we will notify you with at least 30 days notice
By completing onboarding and using the App you acknowledge that you have read and understood these data practices.
5. How We Share Information
Groq — Your AI tutor messages and context summaries are transmitted to Groq as a core operational requirement of the AI tutor feature. Groq is bound by its own privacy policy and data processing agreements.
Financial Partners — Opt-In Only — If you have opted in to partner sharing, your individual profile data may be shared with or sold to brokerage firms, investment platforms, and wealth management companies as described in Section 4B.
Service Providers — We share data with third-party service providers that help us operate the App including cloud infrastructure providers, analytics tools, and app performance monitoring services. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only as directed by us.
Legal Requirements — We may disclose your information when required by law, court order, or government authority, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of Chartzard, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers — If Chartzard is acquired, merges with another company, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via in-app notice before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data including:
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS
- Encryption of data at rest
- Password hashing — we never store your actual password
- Access controls limiting which employees can access user data
- Regular security reviews
No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. In the event of a data breach we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location you may have rights including:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — delete your account and data as described in Section 3
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out — opt out of partner data sharing at any time through Profile → Settings → Data Preferences
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA:
- The right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- The right to delete personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information
Chartzard may sell individual user data to financial partners for users who have explicitly opted in as described in Section 4B. California residents may opt out of this at any time through Profile → Settings → Data Preferences.
9. Third Party Links and Services
The App may contain references to or links to third-party websites, brokerage platforms, or financial services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the App with at least 14 days notice before taking effect. Continued use of the App following notice of changes constitutes acceptance.
